They were \noriginally introduced to the off road motorcycle market in 1984 by the \nFrench tire company Michelin. There are several companies over the years\n that have created different formulations of a mousse, however the \ncomposition and nature of the foam can have a huge impact on performance\n and longevity, so not all mousses are equal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n        \n        \u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePROS AND CONS:\u003c\/strong\u003e In general a mousse is known \nto do one thing very well, NOT go flat. However they are also known to \nhave several downsides, such as having a slow rebounding or \nnon-progressive effect in their rideability. In the industry, this is \noften referred to as a “DEAD” feel. This loose or unstable feeling can \naffect the motorcycles handling and traction applications and \nunfortunately you just have to live with it because they are not \nadjustable (Like pneumatic systems or inner tubes), other than that they\n do adjust  themselves as they diminish and wear.   Being a solid foam \nunit, mousses are generally heavier than most tubes, and the dead \nfeeling only contributes to this effect and feel.
